Company Background
Eggrock’s founder, Jeff Barrett, spent 18 years in the aerospace and medical device industries in both engineering and senior management roles before establishing Eggrock with a small group of investors in 2004. The premise behind Eggrock was to bring the engineering and manufacturing disciplines of those industries to the construction process. The company was founded with the belief that better construction doesn’t have to be more expensive. Jeff started in a one-room office and took time to benchmark modular construction companies both in the US and overseas. Over time Eggrock has added a dedicated team of engineers, technicians, craftspeople, and manufacturing associates that share a passion for innovation and for building high quality products.

The Construction Business
The construction industry has a unique set of problems that are converging to create a cost crisis. First, there is a chronic shortage of skilled labor that continues to grow worse. The average construction worker is now 47 years old and the 200,000 new trades people required to fill the void has little chance of being met. The cost of construction already exceeds the inflation rate, while the population continues to grow and change demographics that require new and more innovative buildings.

The Eggrock Team
One unique aspect of the Eggrock team is that it brings together experiences from industries outside of traditional construction including: yacht building, software development, medical instruments, theatre set construction, and injection molding. We believe that a diverse technical and management team will foster rapid innovation within our construction specialty.

What’s an Eggrock?
The name “Eggrock” symbolizes the confluence of architecture and manufacturing technology, reflecting the company’s approach to improving construction by treating the building itself as a product. Eggrock believes the future of construction lies in the assembly of precision-engineered components rather than the traditional stick by stick approach.
